So, I just read this in an email. Do not do this. It is not cute.
Le-a is her Daughter's name.
How would you pronounce this as a child's name???
Leah?? NO
Lee - A?? NOPE
Lay - a?? NO
Lei?? Guess Again.
Are you resorting to tongue clicks yet?? Scroll down
It's pronounced "Ledasha" oh yes...you read it right. The dash is not silent.
This child attends a school in Livingston Parish. ( Louisiana )
Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong. SO, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce the dash.
When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said "the dash don't be silent."

WOW! This is plain ignorant. And if she's so irate I would give her an intelligent rebuttal informing her that if she wants to get technical then it would actually be pronounced "Le-hyphen-a". It is a hyphen and not a dash...lol...a dash looks like the following "/" and this is a hyphen "-". We should all know this because that's what some women do when they get married; they hyphenate their last name (e.g. Elysian Bonaparte-Colon). That is a hyphen...SMH
Wow, I don't know whether I should laugh my ass off or get down on my knees and pray that the Lord may rid our race from nonsense so our kids can have decent names and not spend a lifetime of humiliation and belittlement.
Can you imagine this mom shouting: "Le-hyphen-a! Dinner's ready!"
All I can say is WOW!!!
