How About A Divorce Between The Right and The Left (Dwn Twn)

Oddly enough, this was circulated via email around my job. HR quickly replied how this was out of policy. As always share your thoughts..

Original Article

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU, and abortion clinics. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, Katie Couric and Rosie O'Donnell...

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you CBS, NBC, CNBC and Hollywood ..

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks, and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks American made cars and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is not a right. We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem and "In God We Trust" where it belongs. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand and Jane Fonda with you.

Proud to Be An American

So I didn't want to write this post until I spoke with my 89 year old grandfather to get his take on the outcome of this election. We have been talking alot more than usual due to the historical significance of this election season. But to hear what an 89 year old man from Augusta Georgia had to say about it made the experience complete for me. An 89 year old man that couldn't save his friend from being lynched when he was 15 years old so he watched helplessly. An 89 year old man that served his country in the US Navy and came home to be kicked off of the property of a diner, that he was not even attempting to eat in, while he was in uniform. To hear the pride in my grandfather's voice of what had taken place made me understand with more clarity what my generation had been a force in helping to do. We hear all the time of how many people endured so that we could enjoy this moment, however, to hear the pride and joy in my own grandfather's voice was the highlight for me! I asked him well how do you feel about it and he answered, "Well, I feel fine." His voice sounded calm and assured.

Because he has seen so much in the history of this country I felt what he thought today as well as the thoughts of many others who had lived to see the evolution of this country was much more insightful than my thoughts. One thing that my grandfather pointed out very strongly was that he was proud of America period. He kept reiterating the fact that people of ALL colors helped to make this possible because they were ready for change and they did not care WHAT COLOR it was. He exclaimed, "This aint no Black thing! This is about change and people's hunger to see it!" He also said that I should be proud of my generation and our technological mobility because without that Barack Obama would not have raised his record breaking amount of money. Also he would not have had the ability to get his grassroots efforts running so smoothly and successfully.

"His campaign was rooted in the internet. And you see that made all the difference. He created a message of change, and a following of many people, particularly young people, who believed in that change. And then he used that powerful tool to bring it all together, The Internet! He's a smart man and the brilliance in his campaign is going to transfer over to his presidency! You just wait n see!" my grandfather said very calmly but with much confidence.

The pride in my grandfather's voice beamed through the phone as he said, "I'm just glad I was around to see it. I knew it was going to happen I am just glad my body and my mind held out to witness it. Because GOD chose Obama to take America to this next step in history. He gave him the ability to make this happen. I didn't know who would be able to do it but it became clear to me early on that Obama was that man. And he did it!"

This election season has made me realize how little I have seen in my mere 24 years. However, I am proud as my grandfather said, to be apart of the generation who helped make the final push for this particular outcome. Many came before us to serve as catalysts and give us the opportunity and the ability to make this happen. Then the youth vote SHOWED OUT yesterday and held up their end of the deal and I am so PROUD! I saw so many young people of so many races yesterday who stood proud after voting and were so excited about doing their civic duty. Something just as touching to me was talking to a 56 year old woman at the polls who was so excited because for the first time she really felt like her vote may count for something REAL! Her 62 year old sister was with her voting for the very first time. She said this is the first time she really believed in a candidate enough to cast a vote.

My grandfather has shared so many experiences of the feats he has seen in not only race relations in this country, but the progress of humanity in general. I am looking forward to telling my kids and grandkids of what my generation helped to do on November 4, 2008. We helped to usher in the first African American President. A man named Barack Obama!

Countdown To Vote

Today is Monday. Tomorrow is the beginning of what seems the rest of my Buppie Life.

The way my stomach is turning every time I think of the results, you would have thought I was a 7 year old who just realized they have to bring home a report card with a D on it!

Whatever the results I really have to thank this election for getting some many people involved. Including me!

Honestly, I will always remember at least 2 elections. This current one, and of course the day George W Bush got elected. I just knew he would bring back slavery.

What ever the case is tomorrow. Let's GET IT Buppies!

Why America Doesn't Make Me Proud

Saw this via another blog....I am speechless.

Race Injected Into Obama Vote

By Mary Kane

Over the weekend, Sen. John McCain’s brother referred to the Northern Virginia suburbs of Arlington and Alexandria as “communist country,” presumably for their traditional Democratic-leaning ways.

I don’t cover politics at TWI, so I’m not going to comment on the campaign strategy behind the remarks. But I do live in Arlington, in a neighborhood called Clarendon. And I can tell you a little bit about what’s been going on here.

During the past few weeks, people who posted “Obama for President” signs in their yards in Clarendon and in the nearby neighborhood of Lyon Park received this letter. Addressed to “Dearest Neighbor,” the letter informed them, in a tone meant to be friendly and helpful, that they should consider the possibility that they are supporting Obama to cover up for their own, hidden racism.

Here’s the letter:

The neighborhood listserve lit up with people arguing over who could have been responsible for the letter, until the moderator shut the topic down. No one knows for sure. The letter itself has made it on to two anti-racism websites, and a site that chronicles voter suppression. The Institute for Healing Racism posted a statement on its site disavowing anything to do with it.

In the meantime, life goes on as usual, here in the communist suburbs of Northern Virginia

One Month

November 4th. That is the day that us registered voters unite to make a decision.
We have watched 2 debates, and endured months of campaigning.

How does it feel?
How does it feel to know that what you do that day determines the shift of this country?
How does it feel to know that how you vote effects your paycheck, mortgage, Co-pay?

Barry + Joe = ??? Plausible Reality?

So, I was pro HC for VP for one entire week. My homegirl really started to trip out, and instead of being a positive, her involvement with Obama campaign almost always ended up in a negative for his camp every time her name came up.

Take a look at this video, where the author compares Barry and Joe to Spock, and Captain Kirk respectively. Ehh to the comparison, but I get the point he is trying to make. Biden + Obama = a very well rounded ticket!

BTW. CNN Reports Obama has a RAZOR thin Led against McCain....for real?

Bobby Kennedy Predicts Future?

He gave a speech to the Voice of America all around the world 40 years ago. And despite what was going on in the country, particularly in Alabama, Bobby Kennedy said this: "Things are 'moving so fast in race relations a Negro could be president in 40 years."

This is in 1968, we're now in 2008.

"There's no question about it," the attorney general said. "In the next 40 years a Negro can achieve the same position that my brother has." ...Kennedy said that prejudice exists and probably will continue to ... "But we have tried to make progress and we are making progress. We are not going to accept the status quo."

What Jesse Jackson Said

I believe one of the roots of this issue that blacks need to understand especially black "leaders" is that Barack Obama is not running for the United States of "Black America" but the United States of America PERIOD so he is not going to sugar coat anything for Black America! I do agree though that perhaps something nicer could have been said for Father's Day. But at the same time Senator Obama had an absent father so maybe that gives him more passion for his distaste to this issue that plagues the Black community. It has also become strangely apparent that many Black leaders have a problem with Senator Obama because he is not using them or really asking them for much aid in this monumental endeavor to become the first Black president.

Anyway, I thought this article was a pretty good read and carried some very valid points.
___________________________________________________________

By Eric Easter (Chief of Digital Strategy for Johnson Publishing, Inc. He writes about politics, culture and technology for ebonyjet.com)

Jesse Jackson made a mistake and he has appropriately apologized. His language was unnecessary, his timing off and the venue (Fox News of all places) gave the comment an illegitimate quality that marred the underlying point Jackson was making, though the castration analogy didn’t exactly help either. It’s all about context. In another setting, stated another way to a different group of people, his comment could have had the power to begin a dialogue to address some of the concerns about Obama’s appeal to mainstream voters and what that means.
But of course, it’s not just what you say, it’s where, how, when and to whom that matter as well. He learned a lesson. But according to quite a number of prominent black activists who are strong Obama supporters but “lovingly critical,” Obama should learn a lesson about what he says and to whom as well. Far from some sign of a rift between Jackson and Obama, what Jackson said was repeated many times in various forms at the recent Rainbow PUSH Coalition by many thoughtful Black activists who, while supportive of Obama, also choose to be “lovingly critical” to ensure that Obama lives up to the promise he presents.

That this growing opinion surfaced in a troubling way is unfortunate, but the Obama campaign and Obama himself would be wrong not to listen to the writing between the lines.
At specific issue is Obama’s Father’s Day speech at Apostolic Church that focused on several points regarding the strengthening of urban families but focused most aggressively on the pathologies of a disturbing percentage of Black men. The fact is that Obama has given some version of his responsibility speech for years. He has written about it as well and as the son of an absentee father he speaks of the issue with passion and authority. It is a Cosby-esque speech (but so) and the message needs to be heard. But, as with Jackson’s example, it’s not what you say, it’s all about where, when and to whom.

When Obama uses a Black church pulpit to send his message of responsibility, he is preaching to the choir both literally and figuratively. The people who need to hear that message are neither on the choir nor in the church, which of course, is part of the problem.

But that particular speech was not in just any church. It was in the first Chicago church Obama attended after repudiating Jeremiah Wright and after resigning Wright’s Trinity Church after incendiary comments made by Father Michael Pfleger. The press and the world was watching and hanging on every word.

The fear among critics is that the real audience that day was not the Black people in the pews at all, but the white people in middle America looking for a strong signal that Obama was rejecting the politics of racial division and animosity. By choosing that moment to castigate Black fathers, some worry that Obama gave public voice to what white people whisper about Blacks in their living rooms and cemented his image as a post-racial savior at the expense of Black men. Whether that was Obama’ s intention or whether he just figured it was Father’s Day so why not do the absent Father stump speech again is impossible to know, but the event smacked of calculated political expediency that troubled more than a few people.

Arguably, Obama could have used that international exposure to salute the majority of Black fathers who provide strong role models. Or, since the issue was his choice of pastors, he could have simply sat down and listened to a safer sermon.

But the Father’s Day speech is only indicative of a broader issue. Rightly or wrongly, some Black progressives are deeply suspicious of the change in white America that has led to Obama’s position. Specifically that white people don’t just want political change, they want a change in the racial dynamic. And hearing about black problems does not fit into their idea of this new America that will be created when Obama becomes president. There are equal parts of truth, paranoia and resistance to change in that suspicion. That’s one of the reasons Jackson said what he did.

No one realistically expects that the first Black man with a real shot at President of the United States was going to be the reincarnation of Stokely Carmichael, but to the extent that some highly visible supporters are worried that Obama’s move to the center is a move away from urban issues and the community suffering from those issues, Senator Obama has reason to be concerned. Inelegantly, rudely and stupidly, that’s what Jesse Jackson was suggesting.

Obama Getting In Touch With His Grassroots

Did Barack Obama really break his promise when he decided to stop taking public financing? That was the major question in last week's election news. Obama has repeatedly been called a flip flopper for deciding to no longer accept public funding. So listening to my daily talk radio I have learned that there are a lot of mixed emotions about this issue. Some I understood and some I think were out of left field. Obama truly believes that the financial system within politics is broken. This is made very apparent through his method of getting most of his funding, the internet. Obama is determined to fix this financial system and one of the steps he is personally taking in this venture is to take no more public funding. Does that make him a rule breaker or a flip flopper?

Obama acknowledges that the system is needed. It came out of the financial scandal in Watergate and has been used by all candidates for most of its existence but it is still flawed. One caller, Mary from Kansas said that "Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth. He says one thing and does something else. I don't trust anything that he says." Another caller pointed out that it is revolutionary where his money is coming from. Do the numerous contributions, private and public, equate to votes? No one in history has ever done this much internet fundraising so how will this all pan out in the general election? However, this is not the only money that he raised. Bundlers are a big part of his funding as well. However, bundlers have been known to cause many problems within the logistics of finances as well throughout a campaign. Many Obama supporters seem to be skeptical as well about him turning down public funding. One woman stated she hates to think that money buys elections but she thinks that it certainly helps because that funding is not just for aid but also influence. Republican strategist Tony Fabritsio says he hopes that this campaign is decided based upon the issues not on how much money was raised and used.

But this is a huge venture for Barack Obama. This will be the first time in years where you will have literally one major party nominee that will have the ability to outspend the other one by 2 to 3 times! A huge advantage for Obama. People are asking if McCain can compete. It is not about the money he has. It is about the fact that he is able to more accurately gage where his voters are coming from. Fabritsio points out that when Barack Obama puts out an email blast, due to his lengthy contributor list and a volunteer list that rivals any ever seen, his message reaches more people than any cable broadcast network. Amazing. This is due to the amount of grassroots support he has in SO many states.

However, in past statements Obama said he would be willing to accept public financing if him and McCain could sit down and discuss the logistics of it. As far as anyone knows McCain has not entertained the notion to do so. It seems that Obama does not want to deal with the illegal actions of some 527 Groups when it comes to fundraising and wants to discuss flaws in the system before he decides to take any more public financing. (Well at least that's what I get out of it.) Republicans argue that the money allotted in the general election plus the amount of money that the parties raise is more than enough funding, and if Obama just concentrated on making money for the Democratic party he'd get a lot of legitmate "on the up and up" funding. They also argue that when he signed the committment statement in 2007 to run he knew what was asked of him as far as finances.

So is Obama's integrity at question? Did he break a promise? Is it a HUGE deal that Obama has decided to pass on the public funding? Interested to hear some opinions on this one...

John Kerry with a Tan

Norquist describes Obama as ‘John Kerry with a tan’
By: Steve Benen

Grover Norquist has quite a history of being unhinged. He’s said the Estate Tax is morally equivalent to the Nazi Holocaust; he’s called WWII veterans “anti-American,” and he’s called bipartisanship “another name for date rape.” But this clown isn’t done pushing the envelope. Norquist dropped by The Times’ Washington bureau today and, as part of his negative critique of Obama’s liberal stances on economic issues and other matters, he termed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee “John Kerry with a tan.” Since Norquist isn’t running for anything, he can get away with such remarks; we doubt McCain will be incorporating the line into his speeches anytime soon. Greg Sargent responded, “Guess it could have been worse. He could have termed the Illinois Senator ‘John Kerry in blackface.’ Such admirable restraint on Norquist’s part! It’s worth keeping in mind that John McCain has been cozying up to Norquist lately. Maybe some enterprising young political reporter can ask why McCain would want to be associated with this clown.

Obama's and Fox NEWS

see the Full article here:

Obviously if you work at Fox News you can get away with anything.

"Fox News Channel referred to Michelle Obama as "Obama's baby mama"

"Fox anchor E.D. Hill has apologized for referring to an affectionate onstage fist bump shared by the couple as a "terrorist fist jab," and Fox contributor Liz Trotta said she was sorry for joking about an Obama assassination."

Could it Be the End??? Or perhaps Just the Beginning

Awww don't they look cute together??

There has been speculation all day but I have not seen the numbers that prove that Obama has clenched the nomination! He is going to announce it anyway and probably is right now as I blog.

Now I am going to keep it real, but I am VERY concerned if he can honestly win against McCain. Why? Because he is black. Because he lacks white support. White people vote, after all it is their country.

I am also concerned for My homegirl HC! She went through it. You went from a sure thing, to yesterday news.
You got desperate too. And Yes someone even called you out:

I do not think HC has officially conceded, but if she had not, boy would you have put your party in a messed up situation. Still your party is a bit weaken by this nomination race.

So what can the democrats do, to secure the White house??
You see Obama has the electoral votes and super delegates, but HC has the people.(White hard workers according to her.)
So what is the Democratic party going to do??

Tell them MOFOs to run together!!! I say this because, the two of them together is a sure thing to knock these republicans out. We have already seen how Bush has ruined my life, no need for McCain!!! We need a democrat in the White House Bups. Otherwise my Buppie status will soon be revoked due to this failing dollar. We will then transform the blog to Expressions of a Broke B!tch! If Obama chooses some no name democrat, he is not going to win. Yes I said it. He needs HC.

There has been much speculation as who will clench the VP spot. It is not a bad spot to be HC. I heard you would be open. I mean after all, What if he gets assassinated?? (Her words not mine...)

I Need a Reggie!!!

Good article passed on from the close confidant....

On the Court and on the Trail, One Aide Looms Over Obama

By Ashley Parker

In the last year, Barack Obama has learned a thing or two about running for president, and Reggie Love has learned a thing or two about Barack Obama. Mr. Love now knows that when it comes to food, Senator Obama “eats pretty much anything, from chicken wings and barbecue and ribs to grilled fish and steamed broccoli.” But when he is campaigning in a small town with limited options, a cheeseburger is always a good bet. (“Cheddar is the cheese of choice,” Mr. Love added.)

He knows that “the boss,” as he calls Mr. Obama, likes MET-Rx chocolate roasted-peanut protein bars and bottles of a hard-to-find organic brew — Black Forest Berry Honest Tea. He keeps a supply of both on hand.

And he has learned that all campaigns have their superstitions — Senator John McCain has a penchant for heads-up coins — and that Mr. Obama is no exception. That means that Mr. Love and Mr. Obama, for luck, play basketball every primary day.

Mr. Love, 26, is Mr. Obama’s body man, the personal aide who shadows the senator and anticipates everything he needs — and everything he does not need. He is not a bodyguard (security is provided by the Secret Service), but rather the ultimate assistant, rarely more than a body length away from the candidate.

Young, eager campaign aides are stock characters in movies and on television, but few have quite the élan of Mr. Love, who, at 6-foot-5, is about three inches taller than the tall candidate, fitter than the fit candidate (he can bench press more than 350 pounds) and cooler than the cool candidate.

“There’s no doubt that Reggie is cooler than I am,” Mr. Obama said, laughing, in a phone interview. “I am living vicariously through Reggie.”

Mr. Love, who played football and basketball at Duke, usually starts the day with Mr. Obama with a dawn workout in the hotel gym. They end the day more than 15 hours later, often unwinding before bed by watching ESPN’s “SportsCenter” or that night’s big game. (Mr. Obama sometimes flosses his teeth to ESPN while lying down.)

What a body man does depends on the politician. Senator John Kerry’s aide for his presidential race in 2004 was dubbed “part butler, part buddy.” Bill Clinton’s aide when he was president said their relationship sometimes felt more like that of an old married couple. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has a body woman, the efficient and glamorous Huma Abedin. On NBC’s “The West Wing,” President Josiah Bartlet treated his body man, Charlie Young, like a son.

Mr. Obama said he regarded “my guy, Reggie,” as the kid brother he never had. “But maybe I’m saying that just because he technically could be my son,” the Illinois senator said. “I don’t want to admit my age.”

Mr. Love said he had been hired with “no job description whatsoever.”
“It was just like, ‘You just go out there and — Take. Care. Of. Stuff,’ ” Mr. Love said, taking his time with each word.

Some of the “stuff” Mr. Love takes care of: When Mr. Obama makes calls to woo superdelegates, Mr. Love is at his side with a briefing book, dialing the numbers. When an outdoor speech ended on a windy day in Noblesville, Ind., he appeared behind Mr. Obama as he shook hands on the rope line. “Jacket?” he asked, a coat draped at the ready over his arm.

When Mr. Obama dropped food on his tie while eating in the car between stops, Mr. Love was ready with a Tide pen. He always carries one, along with ballpoint pens, and has turned himself into a walking dispensary of Sharpies, stationery, protein bars, throat lozenges, water, tea, Advil, Tylenol, Purell and emergency Nicorette, not to mention his ever-present
iPhone, BlackBerry and Canon Rebel XT digital camera. (Mr. Love keeps a photo journal of the campaign, and has more than 10,000 pictures so far.)

Compared with the even-tempered and self-controlled Mr. Obama, Mr. Love is raffish, always joking with the Secret Service, offering closed-fist high-fives to members of the news media and making frequent appearances in the daily pool reports. At a V.F.W. hall in Indiana, he helped out when the senator did not want a second Budweiser, taking it off Mr. Obama’s hands.
Mr. Obama often mentions that Mr. Love was a wide receiver on a football scholarship at Duke who also walked onto the basketball team. At a rally a few weeks ago in Mr. Love’s hometown, Charlotte, N.C., the candidate led the crowd in a chant of “Reggie, Reggie, Reggie!”

After the Democratic Presidential debate in Philadelphia in April, Mr. Obama borrowed a move from the rapper Jay-Z and mimed brushing off his shoulders, but it was Mr. Love who had uploaded his music to the senator’s iPod in the first place — a silver Nano that he bought the senator for his 46th birthday.

“So I’ve gotten pretty fond of Jay-Z,” Mr. Obama said. “He’s broadened my horizons in the hip-hop world.”

In turn, Mr. Obama said he had gotten Mr. Love into “everything from

John Coltrane to Frank Sinatra.”

“I think he’s got the most eclectic music of any 26-year-old,” the senator said.

The Democratic Race to Office [Insert YAWN]

I do not know about you but ever since the Jeremiah Wright joint went down, and that #20 something debate that did not discuss any new issues...this Democratic race just got played out.

Now its time for someone to drop out this race, and dang it HC all signs point to you.
But your not bouncing? WHY?

So just how much of a lead does BaRack have to secure the nomination?

View this nifty creation by the NY Times:

Now that you have seen that, Should HC Bounce?
